About Me

I love food. I believe eating is one of the greatest pleasures in life, and I like trying new stuff at least once in my life. I mostly eat healthy, so health is one big factor that I look for when I go food-tripping. More of a fish and seafood lover, I also like loading up on fresh fruits and veggies. Hence, I’ve authored a vegetarian cookbook called Pinoy Vegetarian Cookbook with my eldest sister Swanie under Anvil Publishing (which is available in all National Bookstore and Powerbooks outlets). By some stroke of good luck (and blessings from above, definitely!), Pinoy Vegetarian Cookbook was named National Winner for the Philippines (Best Vegetarian Cookbook category) of the prestigious The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2011 and qualified for the “Best in the World” competition held in Paris, France.

But – and that’s a big but – although I enjoy eating healthy, I have a sweet tooth, too, and I can’t resist really good desserts. My work, as editor-in-chief of FLAVORS Magazine for 14 years and now as a freelance food columnist/writer/food stylist, mostly revolves around food, but this blog/website is a personal one, so here, I will mostly talk about my personal favorites, ‘discoveries’ and adventures. My background, as a graduate of a Certificate Course in Culinary and Baking Skills from the Center for Asian Culinary Studies (CACS), should help me put culinary things into perspective, but the habit of digging up into the culinary and cultural traditions of places that I visit is the one biggest passion that I have.

So, join me as I embark on food, travel, health and lifestyle adventures with my husband Raff through this blog. And, oh, since Raff is a professional photographer, he’s been giving me valuable tips on taking photographs, especially of food and awesome sites, so my photography skills should sharpen as we go along.

I’ve wanted to do this for a long time, and I’m finally doing it. So, let www.flavorsoflife.com.ph be our food, travel, health and lifestyle adventure together. Come aboard and we’ll have fun!
