SUNDAY brunch is a wonderful occasion for families to bond and enjoy the weekend together. This is why New World Makati Hotel offers its Chandon Sunday Brunch at Café 1228. Every Sunday, the all-day dining restaurant takes on a trendy and chic garden-themed setting, with certain tables draped in sheer and the whole place adorned with rustic displays and hints of the outdoors that exude a refreshing and relaxing vibe for casual and comfortable dining in a stylish atmosphere.
Fresh from our grape farm tour in La Union last May 12 (2014), my husband Raff and I met up with Destileria Limtuaco president Olivia Limpe-Aw, Agriculture Undersecretary Berna Romulo-Puyat and media colleague Angelo Comsti for Chandon Sunday Brunch at New World Makati Hotel two Sundays ago (May 25, 2014), where we met and spent quality time with New World’s general manager Farid Schoucair, director of food and beverage Paawan Engineer, director of communications Rivka Nagtalon and communications executive Nikki Javan.
Named after the wine brand known for its sparkling wine, the Chandon Sunday Brunch includes unlimited Chandon sparkling wine plus a slew of trendy cocktails, such as fresh orange and peach fruit juices infused with sparkling Chandon for a light and bubbly afternoon. These are, of course, for the adults to enjoy.
The kids, meanwhile, have their own special Kids’ Room in one corner of Café 1228. There’s a collection of board games, video games, cartoons, movies and coloring books, plus other fun-filled activities in there to keep the young ones happily busy while the adults enjoy the buffet. In the Kids’ Room, a buffet station is set up and filled with bite-sized snacks and sweet treats so the kids do not get hungry.
Over at the main buffet, where the adults can have their fill of their favorite dishes, sits a wide array of appetizers, a salad bar, fresh seafood, sushi and sashimi, noodles and pasta, pizza, Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, Western and other international cuisines. There are live action stations, where you can have seafood and steaks grilled, roasts carved, salads assembled, bowls of piping hot noodle soups cooked, and pasta dishes prepared a la minute by the team of chefs expertly trained by Executive Chef Ivan Chieregatti.
The dessert spread happens to be one of the most visited stations of the Chandon Sunday Brunch, as it presents a sinfully delicious, colorful and oh-so-attractive selection of sweet treats, including cakes, pies, cheesecakes, chocolates, ice cream, fresh fruits, pastries and other desserts. Now, this was where I naturally gravitated towards after indulging in all things salmon from the buffet!
