IN an effort to promote its processed meats line (which includes Yummy! Hotdogs and Cheesedogs, Pork Ham Tocino, Longganiza Hamonado, Hickory Smoked Bacon and Honey Ham), Frabelle Foods ran a Facebook promotion called the 1st Frabelle Foodie Chef which began in October 2012. The recipe contest invited food lovers, cooking enthusiasts and consumers of Frabelle Foods in the Metro Manila area to submit their own delicious recipe that makes use of any of Frabelle Foods’ products. For two months, recipe entries came in, totaling some 50 impressive ones, and, after the two-month deadline of the online search, The Frabelle Culinary Center’s corporate chefs and Frabelle Foods’ Marketing Department deliberated on the entries and chose the Top 5 entries.
The Top 5 entries – Frabelle Stuffed Chicken by Neneth Tiongkiao Madrona, Hickory Smoked Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Chicken by Romeo Julian Garcia, Frabelle Trimeat Breakfast by Nathan Dapon, Frabelle Delish Muffin by Maridel Pacleb, and Frabelle Meatlover’s Dream by Marlon Cruz – were presented to the media at the Wine Bar of Café 1771, Ortigas Center, today.
The event served as the Contest Finals, with Frabelle’s celebrity endorser Senator Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero, Frabelle Foods president Frannie Tiu Laurel and Food Magazine editor Nana Ozaeta serving as members of the Board of Judges. They tasted the entries, asked the contestants a few questions about their recipes, and then chose the winners based on Taste (40%), Creative Use of Frabelle Products (30%), Uniqueness of Dish (20%) and Presentation (10%).
After careful deliberation over a sumptuous lunch, the Board of Judges announced the grand winner – Frabelle Stuffed Chicken by Neneth Tiongkiao Madrona! She won P20,000 in cash, a one-day Culinary Essentials Program session with the Center for Culinary Arts Manila (CCA), and a chef’s jacket.
Madrona’s Frabelle Stuffed Chicken was also chosen by the bloggers present during the event as the Bloggers’ Choice Awardee after having a taste of all the recipe entries. For the other special award, Senator Chiz’s Choice, it was Maridel Pacleb’s Frabelle Delish Muffin that earned the senator’s nod.
The four other finalists took home P5,000 each as consolation prize.
