IF you love avocado and ice cream, before the month of August (2022) is over, you just have to try Sebastian’s Ice Cream’s Avocado August offerings. The brains behind the brand, Ian Carandang, has made super delicious avocado ice cream and used it in the different concoctions he included in the Avocado August limited-edition items.
They all present avocado ice cream in different forms.
Avocado Dream (Php140 per scoop and Php420 per pint). It is avocado ice cream made with fresh avocado and condensed milk spun into a rich and velvety ice cream. Sebastian’s original avocado ice cream happens to be one of the brand’s most requested flavors, so it is always on the menu whenever avocado is in season.
Avocado Macchiato (Php140 per scoop and Php420 per pint). Another original ice cream flavor of Sebastian’s, it blends coffee ice cream and avocado ice cream and adds in chunks of dark chocolate and toasted almonds.
Avocado Strawberry (Php140 per scoop and Php420 per pint). A new ice cream flavor created for this year’s avocado collection, it is avocado ice cream with a ribbon of strawberry sorbet swirled in. The sorbet is made with real strawberries and is easily my personal favorite.
Avocado Peanut Butter Dive Bar (Php135). It is an avocado ice cream bar that has been hand-dipped in sweet peanut butter and sprinkled with roasted peanuts. Ian Carandang, the brains behind Sebastian’s Ice Cream, first used imported peanut butter on the ice cream bar, but when it turned out to be too salty, he replaced it with local peanut butter and it was perfect.
Avocado Chocolate Chip Chilly Burger (Php140). It is two pieces of Milk Chocolate Chip Avocado Cookies sandwiching avocado ice cream. Fresh avocado has been blended into the cookie batter before milk chocolate chunks and toasted almonds are added, then scooped and baked. I thought biting into two pieces of cookies with a mouthful of avocado ice cream would turn out to be too sweet for my taste, but, no, it was bliss in every bite.
Avocado Almond Poppits (P145 for 8 pieces, P260 for 14 pieces). These are bite-sized nuggets of Sebastian’s signature avocado ice cream dipped in white chocolate and toasted almonds. Pop into your mouth and you simply won’t stop.
Avocado Butter Cake Ice Cream Cake (Php155 per slice and Php1,650 per whole 9-inch cake). It is made up of layers of freshly baked avocado butter cake and avocado ice cream on milk almond crumb, with sweet peanut butter drizzles for its topping.
